Out and About in New Orleans

Here we were at the famous St. Louis Cathedral.

I was surprised that we were allowed to roam freely through this Catholic Church, and even take pictures.  Tim spoke quietly to the kids about the differing beliefs between us and them.  We tried to be very respectful of their property

Below, John gave a donation to a street jazz band.  My favorite song they played was Down on the Bayou.

Yes, while we were visiting the French Quarter we took a one-block stroll on Bourbon Street.  It was in the early afternoon, but even then I had rarely been so uneasy in a place.  As soon as you turn onto the street, you can smell liquor in the air and you see VooDoo shops and other storefronts where you're not even sure what they're selling.  One block was more than enough for me.  Couldn't wait to get back to the riverfront.
But once back to the main riverfront drag, we saw several cute shops.  Below, a real stuffed alligator displayed pralines at the New Orleans Praline company.
Langford Market was a cute women's boutique.

Below, the SuperDome.  Our shuttle driver joked that we should take a picture of it while we could, because if they didn't re-sign Drew Brees, the folks in town were going to burn it down.  :)

Below, the above-ground graves famous in the city.

We rode a trolley into the French Quarter.  John picked-up a stuffed alligator with the money he brought while in a toy store there.  Below is the trolley line into the city.

These pictures were the view from our hotel room.
