The Painting

My dad is a talented architect and artist.  In his free time, one of his pleasures is painting with watercolor.  So not long ago when he and Mom came for a visit, the kids were ecstatic when Dad decided to make a trip to the Rocky Mount Hobby Lobby to pick-up some art supplies so he could teach them his craft.
The first step in the project was choosing a subject to paint: our house.
Then Dad drew a free-hand sketch of the house.
After the sketch was finished, we all came inside as Dad began to teach the kids how to work with watercolors....

John, Christopher, and Anna learned how much water to apply, how to mix colors, and even what to do when something went wrong. (Although Dad assured them that there are no accidents in painting.)

That painting of our home has now been framed and will be a lasting memory for our kids of our home here in Rocky Mount.

As well as a memory of their wonderful Papa
and the day he taught them how to paint...

Thanks, Dad.  We love you.  :)
