Cincinnati Nature Center

One of our favorite places to visit - and it's right down the road from us - is the Cincinnati Nature Center. The Nature Center has miles of hikeable paths, waterfalls, creeks, and places to explore. We were just there on Friday, and I snapped these pictures.

Happy Grandparents' Day!

Happy Grandparents' Day! In honor of the holiday, I dug through my picture archives and pulled-out a few of my favorite grandparent pictures (I only got my digital camera in 2005, so everything before then is un-bloggable). Enjoy!

Historic Reds Game

Greetings Reds fans! Tim and the boys went with a group from our church to see the Reds play the Pirates Saturday evening. It turned-out to be quite historic, because Pete Rose was honored publically for the very first time since he was banned from baseball in the 1980's. Tim says that Pete was not allowed to speak, but he was allowed to walk out onto the field and wave at the crowd, who gave him a thunderous standing ovation. The crowd also held up large signs that said, "Put Pete in the Hall of Fame!" The entire pre-game ceremony had to be approved by the MLB. I'm glad that Christopher and John were able to be there.

Pete was honored at the first base line, which was facing our group's seats (granted, our grou was pretty high-up, but that's what you get when you only get the $10 tickets, I guess!). That's Pete Rose in the middle of the right-side group: he's standing in the middle.

Here was their view of the Ohio River. They walked across this bridge to park.
You can't beat free parking!

Mostly, though, Tim says that the boys were interested in hot dogs, peanuts, and popcorn!

Da Da Da Da Da Dora!

Those of you who know that song will be singing it all day now! I thought you'd get a kick out of our Dora the Explorer (or Dora the 'Splora, as Anna Jean says) cupcakes that the kids and I made one rainy evening this week. Cake mix, canned icing, chocolate chips, melted chocolate chips, food coloring, and a red Fruit Roll-up. There you go!

The Birds

Greetings! I thought I'd share some funny pictures of our jaunt to the Cincinnati Zoo this week, where we were able to spend some time in my favorite exhibit, Lorikeet Landing. They let you buy little cups of nectar and popsicle sticks with seeds on them to feed the birds. Well, we were there first thing in the morning, and those were some hungry birds: they were all over us! John LOVED it, Anna was a bit afraid, and Christopher wasn't much of a fan. But for some reason, the birds were crazy about Tim. In particular, they liked nipping at his hat.

I think I even got a kiss from one of the birds: how sweet!

Welcome to Our Family Blog!

Hello Everyone! Welcome to our Family Blog! Inspired by our friend Alison Clemans and her delightful blog, we have created this page to stay in touch with our loved ones who do not live close to us. We have named our blog not so much after memorable 70's television, but in recognition of the fact that we live in a parsonage, a house owned by a church.

Christopher is now 8 years old, John is 6, and Anna Jean just turned 3. (Tim is 37 and I'm 36, but that's neither here nor there!) In honor of Labor Day being the last day of summer, I'm paying homage to my favorite vacation pictures from Cherry Grove, South Carolina in July. Mmmm, South Carolina. Good times....good times. I have a great family picture of all 5 of us from that vacation, but I'm saving it for Christmas cards.

Check back with me in the next few days, and I will have blogged again about our family adventures. Hopefully by then, I will figure out how to strategically place my pictures inside the text like Alison does (her page looks much better than mine). Until then, thanks for checking in with us!
